Small but 'Tallawah'

Founded in 2006 by Howard R. Hamilton QC, CD, JP (1936-2021), and his daughter Attorney-at-Law Candis M. Craig BA, MA, JD, PG Dip (HRts), Hamilton & Craig is one of the premiere boutique law firms in Jamaica. In an era of expansion, the firm has chosen to maintain a small, core staff, focused on providing the most attentive and personal service to clients. While Mr. Hamilton retired from practice in 2013, both he and Mrs. Craig brought their vast experience working on behalf of the voiceless to the firm. Howard Hamilton became the first public defender of Jamaica in 2002, a follow-up to his over 50-year career as Jamaica’s top criminal defence attorney.
Candis Craig expanded on Mr. Hamilton’s legacy, becoming a human rights attorney, with tenures at the International Human Rights Law Group, based in Nicaragua, from 1999-2002, and the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, headquartered in Washington DC, from 2002-2006. Under the aegis of the firm, Mr. Hamilton’s practice focused primarily on criminal law, while Mrs. Craig’s predominant domain remains commercial law. In December 2018, Kelly Hamilton AA, BA, daughter and sister of the principal partners, was called to the bar and joined the firm as a practising associate.
